Dear Fellow Baseball Enthusiasts,
I want to stress that fall baseball development is the most overlooked aspect of a players’ development. There are reasons why top prospects in the Major Leagues are always playing fall baseball in Hawaii and Arizona….because it is the most crucial time in their development. If you are ever around a pro ball player, and you hear them say something with the likes of “I’m heading to instructs..” they are usually ecstatic about heading there. When players are invited to instructional league, which takes place in October and November, they are considered important prospects in the organization for which they are playing, and this is what gets them excited.
So, if the best players in the business are excited about fall instructional baseball, why can’t young amateur players be excited about it too?
The St. Louis Pirates are highly concerned with the development of youth players in the St. Louis area, which is the reason why we are putting together the Pirates Fall Instructional League.
This Fall Instructional League is for everyone!!!!!!!
Who are the St. Louis Pirates?
The St. Louis Pirates are one of the top youth player development programs in the Midwest. Every year players come out of the program and reach incredible heights, whether they play at the college level or at the professional level. Over 50 players have come out of the organization and played at the Division I level, with over 200 receiving college scholarships. Started by Rick Strickland, former New York Yankees minor leaguer and current Tampa Bay Ray scout, the organization has grown into a program full of experienced instructors, hard working players, and the place you want to be to become the best baseball player you can be.
What is this Fall League?
It’s a great opportunity for anyone, and I sincerely mean that. It’s a chance for players to play games, and get over 40 hours of quality instruction. It lays out like this…
7-Week league beginning August 30 and running through October 17th
What is the age group and what is the cost?
Well I knew you were going to ask this, and I’m trying to stay one step ahead of you. There will be an age group for 5th and 6th graders, 7th and 8th graders, and 9th and 10th graders. Each age group will receive over 28 hours of comprehensive baseball skill and baseball fitness training. One night a week, Athletic Republic (athleticrepublic.com), one of the top athletic development organizations in the area, will be in to train our players on speed, quickness, agility, and strength. The other night will be focused on baseball skill training with the Pirates professional instructors. Roughly, instruction in our facility costs around $100 an hour. Each player, as part of the instructional league will receive 28 hours of instruction, as well as play in live games.

Why is this important for you?
There is that time between the end of the summer season and the beginning of the winter when a player can fall behind athletically and skillfully. It is important to enhance the competition, maintain the training and development, and associate with like-minded kids who are trying to play baseball at a higher level.
We are only accepting the first 60 players at each age level, so act fast…..!!!
